By taking all of the Sleep Strategies from my 19 + years of  experience working in Sleep Medicine and combining them with my knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Techniques (CBT) to provide you with all the possible sleep solutions from one coach.  

I teach my clients how to unlearn their sleep issues. We are biologically wired for sleep. You already know how to get restful sleep. I will help you find it again. 

 

I have years of experience with Sleep and CBT

 

 I have been an active Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (Registry #5910) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists since 2003, adhering to the standards set forth by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

I am an active Registered Sleep Technologist with the American Association of Sleep Technologists. 

I have been a Certified Clinical Sleep Educator with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists since 2012.

I have been a Sleep Lab Director for hospital labs as well as private labs throughout my career.

As of 2021, I have personally analyzed over 20,000 sleep studies, from 1 day old newborns up to 100 year old men and women.

I have given talks to employees at large corporations, such as Apple, regarding sleep and sleep strategies. 

I am a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Life Coach trained in Cognitive Behavioral Techniques (CBT).

It wasn't until I experienced my own battle with Chronic Insomnia that I discovered Cognitive Behavioral Techniques (CBT) and calming our nervous system were the missing puzzle pieces for overcoming Insomnia.

 

My insomnia began years back during a busy summer season with my husband's business. he started receiving customer phone calls in the middle of the night, jolting us out of sleep, with our hearts racing at the sound of the phone ringing.  After several nights in a row of these calls, I started having difficulty falling asleep.  I began experiencing intense anxiety and racing thoughts with worry over another night of interrupted sleep.  And the fear of the panic I would feel from being awoken again by the sound of the ringtone.  Chronic Insomnia set in.

Sleeping less each night made me anxious in the morning due to the lack of sleep, regardless of whether the phone rang that night, or not.  I had trouble focusing on tasks, and it was taking me longer to complete them.  For someone who LOVES efficiency, this was extremely frustrating!  I was forgetting simple tasks if they weren't on my calendar. Something that hadn't been a problem before.

My relationships with my husband, children, family, and friends began to suffer because I was irritable, annoyed, anxious, or angry, and I took it out on them.

I was feeling hopeless that I wouldn't be able to figure out how to cure my Insomnia.  

I was in self-doubt, questions my career.  For all these years, I was helping others sleep better, yet I couldn't help myself?  And if I couldn't help myself, how useful would I be to helping others in this similar situation?  Maybe I should change careers....

Being someone who enjoys solving puzzles, I knew I had to find alternative solutions to cure my Insomnia.  I began exploring.  

During my search, I came across a podcast about mindset, explaining how our thoughts create our feelings which determine what action, or inaction, we will take towards a result.  I was intrigued.  We actually had control over our thoughts and emotions?  They didn't just happen to us?  I began consuming more and more episodes of mindset podcasts.

I then decided to work with a life coach and began implementing this work.  I learned new ways to think and feel about sleep and new ways to calm my nervous system so that I could sleep. Calming, positive thoughts.  Positive, relaxed feelings.  A calm, relaxed nervous system.  New routines and schedules to encourage sleep.  

And my sleep began to improve.  With each night of longer sleep, my confidence in my ability to get back to restful, restorative sleep grew.  And my confidence led me to continue the work, continuing the result of better sleep.  Was this an overnight process?  No way! It took months.  Retraining the brain and body to sleep takes time.  But it worked!  My Insomnia was cured!

Does this mean I no longer have sleepless nights?  No!  I'm human and as humans, we will experience nights of sleep loss during our life's journey.  The difference is that when I have these nights, I know they are short-lived and I have tools in my toolbox to get myself back on track to restful, restorative sleep. 

I know what it's like to sleep well, suffer chronic Insomnia, and then sleep well again.  I help my clients do the same.  I teach you how to calm your nervous system, how to have control over your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and how to implement effective sleep routines and schedules to allow your body to prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically for sleep.  For restful, restorative sleep.  For the kind of sleep that will awaken you to your life!
